CHEF / OWNERS

Duncan and Allison Holmes

Duncan and Allison Holmes are the husband-and-wife team behind Beckon and Major Tom, two thoughtful and welcoming spaces in Denver’s growing dining scene. As co-founders and operators, they focus on creating experiences rooted in care, creativity, and a deep respect for hospitality.

Duncan, Culinary Director and Executive Chef, began his career in Napa Valley and honed his perspective through time spent in Scandinavia. His food reflects a commitment to technique and seasonality, with a style that feels both elevated and deeply personal. Under his leadership, Beckon earned Colorado’s first Michelin star, a milestone that speaks to his quiet precision and ability to consistently create memorable, transportive meals.

Allison, Director of Experience, brings nearly two decades in hospitality to her role, with a background that spans everything from fine dining to neighborhood bars. A native of Denver, she has helped shape service culture in the city by combining warmth with an exacting eye for detail. Her vision at Beckon and Major Tom is guest-focused and ever-aware, drawing inspiration from both global trends and the rhythm of the local community.

Together, Duncan and Allison have created spaces that reflect their shared philosophy: thoughtful food, intuitive service, and a belief that dining should be meaningful and memorable.

They love vintage Delamotte champagne, negronis and restaurants that make time stop.

LEAD SOMMELIER

Andrew Bouton

My journey in the restaurant and wine industry began in my home state of Connecticut.

Wanting to become more immersed in the world of wine, I moved to Santa Barbara, CA. I spent three years working for the late, great Seth Kunin before moving to San Francisco to return to the restaurant industry and then found my way to Colorado where I joined the team at Beckon in 2022 and proudly took on the wine program at Major Tom in 2024.

My favorite champagne producer at the moment would have to be Mouzon Leroux! This is an incredible grower whose wines are focused and full of energy.

My favorite cocktail is a Paper Plane (or anything with amaro nonino) and my most memorable meal is the last one I got to share with my grandmother, she cooked well-done burgers and we drank not-quite-cold-enough Bud light…perfection.

BAR DIRECTOR

Joe Buckley

Joe was born and raised in central Iowa and began bartending at 19 in Iowa City while putting himself through the University of Iowa, where he studied film and writing.

He moved to Colorado in 2016 and continued bartending, eventually joining Paired LLC to help open Call and later, Beckon, having a hand in both bar programs development. Joe remained with the company until mid-2020, when he left to seek more experience, contributing to the conceptualization and launch of a neighborhood bar in his hometown, and gaining experience in both fine dining and high-volume craft cocktail programs.

Joe moved back to Denver in 2023 to rejoin the team and to be closer to the mountains. He spends his days off tying flies, fly-fishing, birdwatching, and supporting the local bar and restaurant scene.

Favorite Champagne Producer- Christophe Mignon – or anyone who produces exceptional Meunier!

Favorite Cocktail – It has to be a Daiquiri with at least 2 rums! Even better if it’s snack sized…

Most Memorable Meal – One that stands out is my first eye-opening dining experience at Olympia Provisions in Portland, Oregon. Coming from a family rooted in hearty, traditional fare, it was the first time I truly understood the impact of high-quality, seasonal ingredients.
